Anesis Outpatient Internship

Training the next generation of clinicians is part of who we are. Our internship gives students room to build real competence, find their voice as clinicians, and do the true work of connection alongside the people we serve.

Clinical Work

Interns join a cohort, learning and consulting alongside peers throughout the internship. They also build a caseload across our full scope of outpatient care: individual therapy with adults, children, and youth, couples and family work, and substance use (AODA) treatment. Caseloads reflect the cultural diversity of the communities we serve. Interns are exposed to culturally responsive practices from day one, aligned with our mission of honoring culture, family, community, and faith.

Training Path

Interns begin by shadowing licensed clinicians, observing real sessions and live decision making. From there, interns move into co-therapy, taking the lead on documentation, before stepping fully into client work as confidence builds. Throughout the internship, interns receive weekly individual supervision and participate in a weekly seminar that blends didactic training, group supervision, and peer consultation, with a growing emphasis on case presentation and career development as the year progresses.

The internship runs September through May, with interns engaged roughly 20 hours a week, including a weekly Friday morning seminar. Direct client hours grow as skills and caseload develop over the year, alongside timely, consistent clinical documentation.

Anesis is grounded in culturally responsive, trauma informed, systemic, and family based practice. We believe healing begins with connection, and connection starts with being seen, heard, and understood. Interns are trained to see clients within the context of their culture, family, community, and faith, and to understand presenting problems within the larger systems that shape them.
