Camile Mejia
(She/Her)
Advanced Practicum Internist
Camile Mejia comes to Anesis Therapy from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater's Counselor Education Program, where she specializes in Clinical Mental Health. With a bachelor's degree in Neurobiology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Camile brings a unique scientific perspective to her counseling practice, informed by her experience in neuroscience research studying sleep and consciousness.
Camile's professional accomplishments include presenting at the American Humanistic Conference on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and receiving third place with her group in the National American Counseling Association Ethics Competition. She holds certifications in Trauma-Focused Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) and Mental Health First Aid.
"I believe that every individual has the capacity for growth, healing, and transformation," Camile shares. "My role is to provide a safe, empathetic, and nonjudgmental space where clients can explore their thoughts, emotions, and experiences in the world. My goal as a counselor is to hold up a mirror to my clients, so they may look deeper within themselves to find their power to change and heal."
Camile's approach is grounded in cultural humility and trauma-informed care. As the daughter of a Colombian father and Midwestern mother, she brings a bicultural perspective to her practice and speaks conversational Spanish. Her professional experience spans working with individuals across the lifespan—from supporting children as young as one year old in a Montessori school to helping adults with complex mental health needs in an inpatient psychiatric hospital.
Outside of her counseling work, Camile enjoys singing, playing piano and guitar, writing poetry, and spending time in nature. Her personal wellness practices include yoga and meditation, which sometimes inform her therapeutic approach through mindfulness and movement activities. Look for her on the dance floor practicing Bachata, Salsa, and Merengue—a reflection of her passion for Latin dance!
Camile's diverse background allows her to blend science, education, and art in her approach to mental health, creating a holistic experience for her clients at Anesis Therapy.
