Nina Soto
(She/Her/They)
Advanced Practicum Internist
Nina Soto joins Anesis Therapy from the University of Wisconsin-Superior's Clinical Mental Health Counseling program, bringing a rich background in music and therapeutic practices. With a Bachelor of Music in Performance and a Minor in Music Education from The University of the Arts (2005), followed by a Master of Arts in Teaching in Music Education (2006) from the same institution, Nina's journey continued with a Music Therapy Equivalency Program from the University of Iowa (2012), leading to her credential as a Board-Certified Music Therapist.
"I believe in meeting people exactly where they are in their journey, without judgment about where they 'should' be, and walking alongside them as a companion rather than an expert who has all the answers," Nina shares. "A truly holistic approach considers not just mental and emotional wellness, but physical health, spiritual needs, family dynamics, cultural identity, and social circumstances; understanding that all these elements are interconnected and influence healing."
Nina brings over twenty years of experience working with children and adolescents as a teacher (preschool through high school) and more than ten years of experience as a Music Therapist. She is passionate about working with children, adolescents, and people in the LGBTQIA+ and disabled communities, incorporating music therapy when appropriate to tap into the healing power of sound, rhythm, and creative expression.
Originally from Brooklyn, NY, Nina is currently in the beginning stages of creating a children's album. Outside of her professional work, she enjoys playing music, attending concerts, traveling, spoiling her dogs, and spending quality time with loved ones.
Nina's approach to counseling is characterized by empathy, compassion, and humor, creating a warm and supportive environment where clients can explore their challenges and strengths. "Healing isn't a destination but an ongoing process," she explains, "and my role is to provide a safe and supportive space where people can explore, grow, and discover their own path forward, at their own pace."
