Advanced Clinical Intern
Gisela Hoxha is an Advanced Clinical Intern at Anesis, currently pursuing her Master of Social Work (MSW) at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the same institution.
As a first-generation Albanian immigrant fluent in Albanian, Gisela brings a unique perspective to her role. While new to the professional mental health field, her passion for supporting others is evident in her approach and interests.
Gisela is particularly passionate about working with children and young adults. She is also interested in supporting individuals through transitional life stages and in the journey of discovering their ever-evolving identities. Her areas of focus include working with those living with depression, anxiety, and trauma.
In her therapeutic approach, Gisela believes strongly in using trauma-informed and trauma-focused techniques. She trusts in the inherent worth of all individuals and envisions herself as a supportive guide in her clients' journeys of self-discovery. Gisela emphasizes non-judgmental perspectives and offers unconditional positive regard to her clients.
Committed to serving minoritized populations and giving back to her community, Gisela has recently worked with a mentor and the Returned Peace Corps Volunteer of Madison (RPCV) to acquire a grant. This grant supports the development of the K-9 school she attended in her small town of origin, Çorovodë, Albania, demonstrating her dedication to education and community development.
Outside of work, Gisela enjoys outdoor activities with her active little pitbull, Gigi. She loves trying new experiences as part of her continuous journey of self-discovery. Music is another passion of hers, and she enjoys listening to various genres in different languages.
What Gisela loves most about working in the mental health field is building relationships and witnessing growth and changes over time. She approaches every relationship from a place of humility and is continuously learning from those she interacts with.
Gisela's unique background, language skills, and commitment to personal growth and community service make her a valuable addition to the Anesis team.
