Introducing Zakiya Catlin, one of our vibrant, full-time therapists. Zakiya started as an Individual Skills Developer and transitioned to a Child and Family Advocate and Crisis Stabilization Specialist before landing a position as a Therapist. Zakiya has completed her Master's Degree in Professional Counseling and has a year of practical experience in the mental health field, specializing in working with children aged 0-17 and their families.
As a therapist, Zakiya's role is crucial in ensuring the needs and rights of our youngest clients and their families are being met. Her specific therapeutic approach is Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT). Zakiya sees herself as a navigating passenger on the client's drive to healing. She can provide directions and information, but it's up to the client to make the decisions.
With lived experience, Zakiya brings a unique perspective to her role, making her an effective advocate for children and families. Her talent for identifying and utilizing resources further strengthens the support she provides.
