Vanessa Statam
CCS Director and Psychotherapist, LCSW
Originally from the South Side of Chicago, Vanessa came to Wisconsin in 2003 as a single parent of two. Vanessa initially became interested in Social Work as a practice due to her own family history and the experiences she had in her own life. She believes that her personal experiences allow her to better supplement client interactions in positive ways. In 2008, Vanessa began working at Dane County Department of Human Services as a Child Protection Social Worker after receiving her Master's in Social Work at UW-Madison. In 2015, Vanessa began working as the Family Engagement Specialist at the Neighborhood Intervention Program (NIP) where she facilitated girls groups at local high schools, Trauma Informed Parenting Training and intensive services for families and teens involved in court ordered youth justice services. In 2017, Vanessa received the James Rumpf Community Services Award by the Neighborhood Intervention for her work with you in the Dane County Area. In 2018, Vanessa began working at Anesis Marriage and Family Therapy where she provides culturally based services for those in need of comprehensive support to manage mental health needs and facilitates groups for children and parents regarding the impact of trauma exposure. She plans to further her knowledge in the field of trauma to better support her work with families with hopes that this information can be used to provide more effective services, create better strategies, strengthen relationships and promote healing.
