Troye (Chenxi) Lu

(She/Her/Hers)

Advanced Practicum Internist

Troye (Chenxi) Lu joins Anesis Therapy as an intern from the University of Wisconsin-Madison’s
Clinical Rehabilitation Counseling program, bringing a rich background in and awareness of
disability, culture, and therapeutic practice. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and
a Minor in Philosophy from the University of Washington-Seattle (2025). Her clinical approach is
grounded in humanistic and person-centered values, with an emphasis on authenticity,
empathy, and connection.

Troye’s clinical and research experiences have deepened her interest in how people make
meaning of difficult and/or traumatic experiences and how their personal narratives can shape
the way they understand themselves and their relationships. Her work with Functional Analytic
Psychotherapy (FAP) has particularly shaped her counseling style. She draws on the principle
of Awareness, Courage, and Love (ACL) to help clients become more aware of their
experiences, practice vulnerability and authenticity, and build meaningful connections with
others.

Troye is especially passionate about working with international and multicultural clients, young
adults, and people with disabilities. Born and raised in southwest China, she understands the
complexities of navigating cultural identity and adapting to a new environment, identities, and
relationships. She hopes to explore these experiences collaboratively with clients and support
them in developing a sense of identity and belonging that feels authentic to them.
Troye loves to learn and is curious about everything! Troye’s approach to counseling is
characterized by authenticity, creativity, empathy, and humor. She creates a safe and non-
judgmental space where clients can explore their challenges and consolidate their strengths.
“We are like some other people and like no other person,” Troye shares, “each individual is
unique yet lives in the interactive world.” Troye values systemic thinking and helps clients honor
their uniqueness while developing authentic relationships.
