Lyda Thao serves as an Outpatient Psychotherapist at Anesis, fortified with a Master of Social Work and a Bachelor of Science in Human Development and Family Studies from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. With five enriching years in the mental health field, her career spans across community mental health organizations, schools, and assisted living facilities, catering to a broad age range of clients from 4 to 50 years old.
Lyda specializes in collaborating with clients to navigate through challenges such as trauma, depression/anxiety, emotion dysregulation, enhancing parenting skills, developing coping strategies, managing life transitions, and supporting identity formation. Her therapeutic arsenal includes Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Motivational Interviewing, complemented by Mindfulness, Play Therapy, Family Systems Theory, and a Faith-Based approach upon request. Currently, Lyda is expanding her expertise by training in EMDR.
Operating from a framework of hope and employing a strength-based approach, Lyda's philosophy centers on the belief that everyone is capable of change and possesses the potential for healing. She is dedicated to fostering an environment of safety and acceptance, empowering clients to delve into their life stories and uncover deeper aspects of their identities.
Outside the clinic, Lyda enjoys traveling, assembling Lego sets, and unwinding to the tunes of Taylor Swift. She holds a unique bucket list goal: to visit all 63 National Parks and collect t-shirts from each, aspiring to one day create a quilt symbolizing her adventures.
