Andala Yakubu

Outpatient Psychotherapist

Andala Yakubu, an Outpatient Psychotherapist, brings a fresh and passionate perspective to our team at Anesis Therapy. Holding a Master’s in Social Work from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Andala has acquired hands-on experience through clinical internships at the Middleton Youth Center and the Pauquette Center for Psychological Services.

While being new to the field, Andala has developed a keen interest in addressing anxiety, depression, emotional problems, effective communication, interpersonal relationships, and domestic violence. She skillfully utilizes a range of therapeutic approaches including dialectical behavioral therapy, trauma-informed care, client-centered therapy, strength-based therapy, holistic therapy, and cognitive behavioral therapy.

Her commitment to mental health has not only been confined to clinical practice. Andala has made valuable contributions to the field, notably through her research on domestic violence in Ghana, extending her impact beyond the clinic's walls. You can access her insightful research paper here.

Her inspiration to pursue a career in mental health originates from personal experiences within her own family, primarily influenced by her sister’s struggle with domestic violence and the resulting mental health conditions. This has solidified her dedication to educating patients and their families about mental health, its importance, and the effective treatment measures that can be employed.

When not at work, Andala delights in the culinary arts, crafting delicious Ghanaian dishes, enjoying her favorite Netflix shows, and spending quality time with friends. As a native Gonja speaker, she brings a unique linguistic asset to her role.

Interestingly, Andala is the ninth child in a large family of thirteen children. What she loves most about Anesis is the robust sense of community and the team's unwavering commitment to their client's well-being. Eager to grow as a therapist, she's thrilled to be part of the passionate and welcoming Anesis family.
