Nick Ballweg

(he/him)

Psychotherapist, LCSW, SAC-IT

Creating connections and making meaning are what energize Nick as a therapist. Nick emphasizes the importance of all aspects of his clients’ lives–both internal and external–as he works alongside them. He prioritizes the exploration of values, beliefs, identity, culture and community.

Nick sees value in every person, and is dedicated to incorporating each client’s unique strengths into their healing. Nick is committed to providing affirming and appropriate care to all individuals that he works with. He integrates aspects of systems theory, cognitive behavioral therapy, trauma-responsive therapy, motivational interviewing, and mindfulness into his clinical approach. However, he’s open to experimenting with any modality that will allow him to best support his clients.

Nick grew up in Waukesha, Wisconsin, and completed his undergraduate and graduate degrees at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Through his work with various supportive agencies in the Madison community, Nick has felt a sense of engagement and fulfillment he has found nowhere else. It’s because of this connection to Madison that, despite moving to the Chicago area, Nick has continued to provide mental health and substance abuse counseling services to Anesis clients virtually.

When he isn’t working, you can probably find Nick hiking, foraging, playing guitar, or cooking adventurous recipes.
